A city hall wedding on LaSalle Street
A courthouse ceremony, a walk down the middle of LaSalle Street, and a rooftop dinner above the river.
They booked the courthouse for the middle of a Friday afternoon and treated the rest of the day as the wedding. That is a format we love photographing: no timeline to fight, no hall to work around, just the two of them and the city they live in.
After the ceremony we walked out onto LaSalle. The street cuts a canyon straight through the loop and in the late afternoon the light drops down it like a corridor. She lifted her train and walked the center line, and we shot it long so the buildings would stack up behind her.
The rest of the afternoon was the brass lifts in the lobby, the stone stairs, and a rooftop table above the river for dinner. She changed into a short dress for the reception. Everything after seven o'clock was lit by the skyline going blue.
