Most of our city work happens in three places. Olive Park and the harbor path for proposals, because you get the full skyline behind a couple with enough distance to shoot the moment unseen. The river bridges for graduation and senior sessions, where the iron rails and the towers stack up behind anyone standing on the deck. And LaSalle Street for courthouse weddings, where the canyon between the buildings funnels the afternoon light straight down the center line.
Shooting the city well is largely about knowing which permits you do not need, where a tripod will get you moved on, and how long it actually takes to get from the Loop to the lakefront on a Saturday with a wedding party in tow. We plan city sessions on foot and keep the distances short.
Weather moves faster off the lake than people expect. A session booked for golden hour in October can lose the sun to a bank of cloud coming in over the water twenty minutes early, so city shoots get a plan B before we leave Geneva.
Where we shoot in Chicago
What Chicago books us for
- Proposal PhotographyThe harbor path gives the skyline behind you and enough distance to shoot the moment unseen.
- Wedding PhotographyCourthouse ceremonies and rooftop dinners, worked on foot so the day is not spent in traffic.
- Graduation PhotographyThe bridges and the river walk, for graduates who would rather have the city than a campus lawn.
