Naperville's Riverwalk runs about a mile and a half along the DuPage River and carries brick paths, a covered bridge, a stone amphitheater and a quarry beach, which is an unusual amount of variety to have inside one walkable location. On a wedding day that matters, because a couple who only has forty minutes between the ceremony and the receiving line can still come back with four completely different looks.
The Riverwalk is also one of the busiest public spaces in DuPage County on a summer Saturday. Shooting here well is mostly about timing and about knowing which stretches empty out first, which is generally the section north of the covered bridge in the last hour before sunset.
Naper Settlement's nineteenth century buildings sit a block off the path and give a completely different register, closer to a working village than a park. Downtown along Jefferson and Main brings brick, awnings and shop windows for senior and engagement sessions that want something less green.
