Oswego sits where the Fox River starts to open out, and the parkland along it is less manicured than what you find upstream. Hudson Crossing and the trail south of it give you tall grass, gravel paths and a lot of low sun coming through at the end of the day, which is why so much of the family work here is booked for the last hour of light.
The town has grown quickly and a lot of the families we photograph here moved out from the city in the last decade. That tends to shape what they ask for: fewer formal groups on a studio backdrop, more of everybody outdoors with the children allowed to be children.
Autumn is the busy season. The prairie restorations go copper for about three weeks in October and the bookings stack up against that window, so anyone wanting those colors should be asking in August rather than the week before.

What Oswego books us for
- Family PhotographyRiverfront tall grass at the end of the day, with room for children to move rather than pose.
- Senior PhotographyPrairie edges and gravel tracks, at their best for about three weeks in October.
- Engagement SessionsQuieter than the parks upstream, which means fewer people walking through the back of a frame.
