Lake Ellyn Park is the anchor here. The boathouse sits above the water with a stone terrace and steps down to the shore, so you get architecture, reflection and elevation in one location, and the whole thing is small enough to work in forty minutes.
The streets rising away from the lake are older than most of DuPage and heavily wooded, which gives dappled light in summer and real color in October. Glenbard West sits on the hill above the park, and its graduation season keeps senior sessions busy through spring.
Downtown around Main and Crescent is compact and brick built, and it holds up as a backdrop when the weather rules out the park. That combination, a park and a walkable downtown inside a few blocks of each other, is why sessions here rarely get canceled outright for rain.
